Full job descriptionService Manager - Children’s Social CareWe are seeking an experienced and motivated Service Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality Children’s Social Care services.
This is a key leadership role responsible for safeguarding children, managing complex risk, driving service improvement, and ensuring positive outcomes for children and families through effective social work practice.
Key Responsibilities*Lead and manage Children’s Social Care services, ensuring high standards of practice and performance.
*Provide oversight and decision-making on complex safeguarding and child protection matters.
*Drive continuous improvement through quality assurance, audits, and performance management.
*Ensure services operate in line with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and safeguarding standards.
*Build and maintain strong partnerships with schools, health services, police, and other key agencies.
*Manage service demand, workforce capacity, and resource allocation to ensure effective service delivery.
*Support workforce development and promote high-quality social work practice.
*Analyse performance data and implement service improvements to enhance outcomes.
*Act as the Lead Designated Child Protection Officer, providing expert safeguarding advice and guidance.
*Manage budgets and resources effectively to deliver value for money and positive outcomes.
About You*Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
*Significant experience in managing and leading Children’s Social Care services.
*Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance, and children’s social care practice.
*Proven experience managing complex casework and high-risk safeguarding situations.
*Demonstrable track record of delivering service improvement and managing performance.
*Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience working across multiple agencies.
*Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making capabilities.
*Experience managing budgets, resources, and competing operational priorities.
*Resilient, adaptable, and able to perform effectively within complex and demanding environments.
*Experience leading transformation, change, and service improvement initiatives.
