Full job descriptionRotherwood Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Humanities Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in the Burnley area.
The role is part-time, Monday to Thursday, and is required ASAP. The position is initially expected to run until October half term, with the potential to continue longer-term for the right candidate.
About the Role:*Teach Humanities across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons.
*Deliver lessons across areas such as History, Geography and Religious Education, depending on departmental requirements.
*Provide some English cover when required, supporting pupils to maintain continuity of learning.
*Plan, prepare and deliver lessons in line with curriculum objectives and school schemes of work.
*Adapt and differentiate teaching to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities, learning styles and additional needs.
*Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment where pupils are encouraged to participate and achieve.
*Monitor pupil progress and understanding, providing appropriate feedback and support.
*Maintain high expectations for behaviour, achievement, attendance and engagement.
*Use effective classroom management strategies to maintain a calm, safe and purposeful learning environment.
*Support pupils with SEND and other barriers to learning through appropriate differentiation and targeted assistance.
*Work collaboratively with teaching staff, Heads of Department and support colleagues to ensure effective lesson delivery and pupil progress.
*Follow all school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding, behaviour and health and safety.
The Ideal Candidate Will:*Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or an equivalent teaching qualification.
*Have experience teaching Humanities at secondary level, ideally across KS3 and KS4.
*Be confident delivering lessons in History, Geography and/or Religious Education.
*Be willing and able to provide some English cover when required.
*Have strong classroom management and communication skills.
*Be able to engage pupils through varied, well-planned and appropriately differentiated lessons.
*Have a positive and flexible approach to working across a secondary school environment.
*Be committed to raising attainment and supporting pupils to achieve their full potential.
*Have experience supporting pupils with SEND and differing learning needs.
*Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
*Provide details of the latest two references, covering the last five years’ work history.
*Possess a current DBS check or be prepared to apply for one as part of your registration.
*Be willing to complete a face-to-face registration and satisfy the required compliance checks.
