Reed Education is currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Mentor to join a specialist secondary education setting in Reading. This position is offered on an initial temporary basis with a strong view to becoming permanent for the right candidate.
This is not a Teaching Assistant role. We are looking for an individual who can build positive relationships, support young people with their personal development, emotional wellbeing and engagement in learning, whilst acting as a trusted adult and positive role model throughout the school day.
About the School
Our client is a specialist setting supporting students aged 11-18 who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), predominantly relating to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many students may also present with additional learning, communication or behavioural needs. The school is committed to providing a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where every young person is encouraged to achieve their potential both academically and personally.

The Role
As a Learning Mentor, you will work closely with students who require additional emotional, behavioural and pastoral support to help them engage positively with education.
Responsibilities include:
*Developing trusted professional relationships with students.
*Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management.
*Providing mentoring and encouragement both inside and outside the classroom.
*Helping students overcome barriers to learning and attendance.
*Working alongside teachers, pastoral teams and senior leaders.
*Supporting restorative conversations and positive behaviour strategies.
*Promoting confidence, resilience and self-esteem.
*Monitoring wellbeing, engagement and progress.
*Acting as a positive role model throughout the school day.
*Supporting students during lessons, breaktimes, interventions and enrichment activities where appropriate.
