REED Education is currently recruiting for a highly organised and professional School Administrator to join a well-established specialist education setting in Reading. This role is being offered on an initial temporary basis with the strong potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator who enjoys working in a fast-paced school environment and takes pride in delivering outstanding support to staff, pupils, parents and external stakeholders.
About the School
Our client is a specialist secondary provision supporting students aged 11-16 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), primarily for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You do not need to have experience with SEMH, to work within this role. The school is dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where students are supported to achieve both academically and personally. A strong emphasis is placed on developing positive relationships, emotional wellbeing, resilience and essential life skills, alongside a broad and engaging curriculum.
The Role
As School Administrator, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support across the school, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the office.
Key responsibilities will include:
*Managing reception duties and acting as the first point of contact for visitors, parents and external agencies.
*Handling incoming telephone calls, emails and correspondence.
*Maintaining accurate pupil records and school databases.
*Supporting attendance monitoring and reporting.
*Assisting with admissions and student administration.
*Processing school communications, letters and newsletters.
*Providing administrative support to senior leaders and teaching staff.
*Organising meetings and appointments.
*Managing filing systems and confidential documentation.
*Supporting compliance, safeguarding and general school office functions.
*Assisting with data entry, reports and other administration tasks as required.
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
*A DBS on the update service
*Previous administration experience, preferably within a school or education setting.
*Excellent organisational and time management skills.
*Strong written and verbal communication skills.
*Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
*The ability to manage confidential information sensitively and professionally.
*A friendly, approachable and professional manner.
*The ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure.
*Knowledge of school management systems would be advantageous but is not essential.
