People Solutions are currently recruiting for a Technical Lab Assistant to join our well-established manufacturing client based in Middleton, Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience within a technical laboratory environment while working as part of an established Research & Development team.
You will support Development Technologists and the wider technical team with producing customer samples, carrying out basic testing and analysis, conducting raw material checks, and assisting with general laboratory activities.
This role would be suitable for candidates with experience as a Laboratory Assistant, Production Technician or Technical Assistant.
Rates of Pay:
• £26,000 per annum
Shift Pattern:
• Monday to Friday
• 09:00 - 17:00
• 37.5 hours per week

Day-to-Day Duties:
As a Technical Lab Assistant, you will work:
• Producing customer samples and internal development materials
• Supporting Development Technologists with customer and internal projects
• Preparing samples for testing and analysis
• Carrying out basic laboratory testing
• Assisting with raw material analysis and evaluation
• Recording and reporting results accurately
• Supporting product development and innovation activities
• Using sample management and IT systems to record completed work
• Following technical instructions and established procedures
• Assisting with the improvement of materials, processes and procedures
• Completing technical tasks within agreed timescales
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe laboratory environment
• Working in accordance with Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality standards
Essential Skills:
To be successful as a Technical Lab Assistant, you will need:
• Excellent attention to detail
• A practical and hands-on approach to work
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• The ability to work effectively to deadlines
• A flexible approach to changing priorities
• Good problem-solving skills
• Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office
• A reliable and hardworking attitude
Desirable Experience:
• Previous laboratory experience
• Experience within a manufacturing or production environment
• Experience producing or testing samples
• Knowledge of polymers, plastics, rubber or similar materials
• Knowledge of polymer compounding processes
• Experience using testing or processing equipment
• Experience using ERP systems
Training:
• Full training and support provided
• Ongoing industry-related training
• Continued development within the technical and R&D functions
