Reed is currently recruiting for a Driver & Loader to join a well-established and growing waste collections and clearance operation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a hands-on role with long-term career prospects and a supportive team environment.
You’ll be provided with a long wheelbase Luton van, which you can take home each day, helping you save on commuting and mileage costs.
Working Hours
*Monday to Friday
*Start time: 6:00am
*Finish time: Usually between 3:00pm and 4:00pm
*Average shift length of 9-10 hours per day
*No two days are the same, with work carried out across a variety of customer sites
The Role
As a Driver & Loader, you will be responsible for:
*Completing waste collections and clearance jobs safely and efficiently
*Loading and unloading various waste streams and materials
*Providing excellent customer service at every location
*Using handheld technology to receive and complete jobs
*Carrying out daily vehicle inspections and reporting any issues
*Keeping the company vehicle clean and presentable
*Maintaining clear communication with the operations team throughout the day
You’ll work across a diverse range of client sites including:
*Schools
*Prisons
*Care homes
*Residential properties
*Commercial premises
*Housing associations
*Public sector organisations
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will be:
A strong communicator with excellent customer service skills
Flexible and adaptable, understanding that not every job is straightforward but always willing to approach tasks positively and professionally
Comfortable working in a customer-facing environment
Reliable, self-motivated, and physically fit due to the nature of the role
Able to work independently and manage their workload effectively
In possession of a full UK Driving Licence with no major endorsements
Able to obtain or hold a valid DBS check, as many client sites require security clearance
Able to safely park a company vehicle at home overnight
Previous experience within waste management, removals, driving, or a similar physical role would be beneficial, but attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn are equally important.
