Full job descriptionSenior Geospatial Manager
Location: Crawley – 2–3 days per week
Salary: £60,000–£70,000 + package
Experience: 10+ years
The Opportunity
An ambitious and growing business is looking for an experienced Senior Geospatial Manager to take ownership of the operational, commercial and people-focused development of its geospatial division.
This is a senior management position for someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of people, clients, commercial performance and business growth.
With an established team of around 18 professionals and significant plans for further expansion, this person will play a key role in shaping the future direction of the division.
This is not a heavily technical position. The emphasis is firmly on leadership, commercial development, operational performance and building capability, with technical delivery accounting for less than 10% of the role.
Key Responsibilities
*Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation and performance of the geospatial division.
*Lead, mentor and develop a team of approximately 18 professionals, with scope to significantly grow the team.
*Identify future resource requirements and support recruitment and workforce planning.
*Allocate resources effectively and ensure projects are appropriately planned and supported.
*Build strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
*Identify new opportunities and play a key role in generating and winning new business.
*Prepare and review quotations and support commercial discussions with clients.
*Coordinate responses to tenders, frameworks, PQQs and ITTs alongside the Commercial Team.
*Manage client change requests and commercial negotiations where required.
*Monitor project performance, utilisation and profitability against agreed targets.
*Support forecasting, budgeting and monthly reporting.
*Provide project oversight, performance updates and risk management support to the Senior Leadership Team.
*Represent the business at industry events, client meetings and networking opportunities.
*Develop a high-performing culture focused on collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
*Conduct performance reviews, one-to-ones and development planning.
*Champion innovation, digital workflows and operational improvements.
*Support quality, compliance and audit activities.
*Advise the senior leadership team on the future structure, capability and requirements of the division.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an experienced professional with 10+ years’ experience who has progressed beyond purely technical delivery and is looking for a broader leadership and commercial opportunity.
Your background could be within geospatial, engineering, infrastructure, construction, consultancy or another technical services environment.
More important than your exact background is your ability to:
*Lead and develop teams effectively.
*Build credible, long-term client relationships.
*Identify and convert commercial opportunities.
*Understand project performance, utilisation and profitability.
*Think strategically about people, capability and growth.
*Advise and influence senior stakeholders.
*Balance operational requirements with commercial objectives.
*Develop talent and build a stronger team around you.
*Bring a proactive, entrepreneurial approach to the role.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity for someone who wants to have genuine influence over the growth of a division, rather than simply manage an existing operation.
You’ll have the opportunity to help determine where the division goes next, what capability it needs, which opportunities it pursues and how the team develops.
The ambition is significant, and the successful candidate will be given the platform to make a real impact.
If you’re an experienced manager with strong commercial instincts, proven leadership capability and the ambition to build and grow a successful division, we’d like to hear from you.
