About the Role
We are currently registering Kitchen Assistants, Kitchen Porters, and Catering Assistants to work on a temporary basis in schools across North London.
These roles support school catering teams during busy periods, staff absences, and increased demand throughout the academic year. Opportunities may be available across a range of primary schools, secondary schools, and educational settings.
This is not a single vacancy. We are building a pool of temporary school catering staff for ongoing assignments across multiple schools in North London.
What You’ll Be Doing
Depending on the assignment, duties may include:
*Assisting with food preparation and meal service
*Serving food to students and staff
*Washing dishes, pots, trays, and kitchen equipment
*Cleaning kitchen, dining, and food preparation areas
*Supporting chefs and catering teams with day-to-day tasks
*Preparing dining areas before service and clearing down afterwards
*Assisting with deliveries and stock movement
*Following food hygiene, health & safety, and safeguarding procedures at all times
What We’re Looking For
*Previous catering, hospitality, kitchen, or cleaning experience is beneficial but not essential
*Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
*Positive attitude and strong work ethic
*Good communication skills
*Understanding of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards
*Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain on your feet for extended periods
Requirements (Compliance)
Because the work is within schools, all successful applicants must complete strict safeguarding and compliance checks before being cleared for work:
*Right to Work in the UK
*Share code, passport, birth certificate, or equivalent documentation

*Enhanced DBS Check
*Having a DBS on the Update Service can significantly speed up registration
*If you do not currently hold a DBS, we can assist with obtaining one (processing times typically range from 1–3+ weeks)

*Professional references covering the last 2 years

*Overseas Police Check
*Required if you have lived outside the UK within the last 5 years
*Processing times vary depending on the issuing country

*Registration does not guarantee immediate or ongoing work
*Work is offered based on school requirements and staffing needs
*All safeguarding and compliance checks must be completed before any placement can begin
*Compliance and DBS processing can take a week or more before you are fully cleared for work
*Once cleared, shifts will be offered based on school demand, location, and your availability
