Full job descriptionAn established property and construction consultancy is seeking an Employer’s Agent to support the delivery of new-build residential developments. This is an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified or aspiring Quantity Surveyor, Building Surveyor or Project Manager looking to develop their career as an Employer’s Agent.
The successful Employer’s Agent will have previous experience delivering Employer’s Agent and/or Contract Administration services within the residential sector, ideally working with Local Authorities, Housing Associations or Private Developers.
The Employer’s Agent’s roleThe Employer’s Agent will support projects from pre-contract through to completion, helping to develop project briefs, assemble delivery teams and procure the necessary consultancy services.
You will prepare accurate tender and contract packages, undertake tender processes and review Contractor, Developer and Designer proposals against the Employer’s Requirements. The Employer’s Agent will also prepare Building Contracts and independently manage projects through the construction phase.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include chairing progress meetings, producing minutes and administering projects under JCT Design and Build contracts and bespoke Development Agreements. You will report to clients on time, cost and quality, proactively manage project risks and oversee handover and post-completion activities, including inspections, defect rectification periods and final accounts.
The Employer’s AgentThe successful Employer’s Agent will have:
*Experience delivering Employer’s Agent or Contract Administration services on new-build housing projects.
*Experience working with Local Authorities, Housing Associations and/or Private Developers.
*A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Project Management or a related construction discipline.
*RICS membership, APC enrolment or progress towards an equivalent professional qualification.
*Good knowledge of JCT contracts and residential development processes.
*Strong communication, organisation and client-facing skills.
*The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a wider project team.
In Return?The Employer’s Agent will receive:
*£45,000 - £55,000
*25 days’ annual leave.
*An additional 3 days’ leave between Christmas and New Year.
*Hybrid working of up to 2 days per week from home.
