Full job descriptionMotor Vehicle Teacher - SEMH School
We are working with a specialist SEMH school in Ashford who are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Motor Vehicle Teacher to join their team on a long-term, full-time basis, starting ASAP.
The Role:*Deliver practical and engaging Motor Vehicle lessons to students within an SEMH setting.
*Plan and prepare lessons that cater to a range of abilities and learning needs.
*Teach students practical skills relating to vehicle maintenance, repair and mechanics.
*Support students to develop vocational skills and prepare them for further education, apprenticeships or employment.
*Maintain a safe, structured and positive workshop environment.
*Build strong relationships with students and use positive behaviour strategies to encourage engagement.
*Work closely with colleagues and the wider school team to support students’ academic, social and emotional development.
The Ideal Candidate: Motor Vehicle Teacher *A Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance, Vehicle Technology, Automotive Engineering or a related discipline - such as IMI, City & Guilds or equivalent.
*Strong practical experience within the Motor Vehicle/Automotive industry.
*Previous experience teaching, training, mentoring or supporting young people is highly desirable.
*A recognised teaching qualification such as Level 3 AET, Level 4 CET, Level 5 DET/DiT, PGCE or Cert Ed would be advantageous, although candidates with strong industry experience who are willing to work towards a teaching qualification will also be considered.
*GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths is desirable.
*Experience working with young people with SEMH, behavioural or additional needs would be highly advantageous.
*Already experienced as a Motor Vehicle Teacher
*A patient, resilient and enthusiastic approach to working with challenging behaviour.
*The ability to engage students through practical, hands-on learning.
*A current DBS or willingness to obtain one.
