We’re delighted to be recruiting on behalf of an established freight forwarding company for an Air Export Operations Co-oordinator to join their busy and growing Air Freight team in Southampton.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in Air Freight, Air Export or general Freight Forwarding who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment, building strong customer relationships and taking ownership of shipments from start to finish.
About the RoleWorking as part of a close-knit Air Freight Operations team, you’ll play an important role in coordinating international air export shipments from booking through to departure and final destination.
This is a varied and fast-paced position where no two days are quite the same. Shipments can often have tight turnaround times, with same-day collections and next-day flights, so you’ll need to be organised, responsive and confident working under pressure.
You’ll work closely with customers, airlines, overseas agents, customs, transport providers and internal teams to ensure shipments are managed efficiently and arrive where they need to be on time.
Key Responsibilities*Coordinating air export shipments from booking through to departure and final destination
*Liaising with customers, airlines, overseas agents, customs and transport providers
*Arranging freight bookings and collections
*Preparing and managing export and air freight documentation
*Tracking shipments and providing customers with regular updates
*Responding to customer enquiries and resolving operational issues
*Coordinating transport requirements and ensuring cargo is ready for departure
*Managing multiple shipments and priorities at the same time
*Ensuring airline and operational deadlines are met
*Checking cargo, labels and shipment preparation when required
*Working closely with internal teams to ensure shipments move smoothly
*Providing a high level of customer service throughout the shipment process
About YouWe’re looking for someone who is organised, proactive and genuinely interested in developing their career within freight forwarding and international logistics.
You’ll ideally have:
*Previous experience within Air Freight, Air Export or Freight Forwarding
*Experience coordinating shipments, bookings, transport or export operations
*A good understanding of freight forwarding and export processes
*Strong customer service and communication skills
*Confidence speaking to customers over the telephone
*The ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines
*Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
*The ability to remain calm and solution-focused in a fast-paced environment
*Good organisational and problem-solving skills
*A genuine interest in building a long-term career within the freight forwarding industry
Air export experience is preferred, particularly experience working directly with airlines. However, candidates with general or multi modal freight forwarding experience will also be considered.
Knowledge of Air Waybills (HAWB/MAWB), customs declarations, export documentation, Dangerous Goods, aviation security, CDS entries or Incoterms would be advantageous but is not essential.
The company is also open to candidates from transport, logistics or operations coordination backgrounds who can demonstrate strong customer service skills, a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in moving into freight forwarding.
