Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a background in Speech & Language support and working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech & Language Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Chatham on a part-time basis. This rewarding role will involve providing tailored support to pupils with speech, language, and communication needs, helping them to develop confidence and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver speech and language interventions under the guidance of the school’s SENCO and Speech & Language Therapist
Support pupils with communication, interaction, and language development needs
Work one-to-one and with small groups of children requiring targeted support
Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and parents where required
Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and encourage engagement in lessons
Promote an inclusive and nurturing learning environment
Requirements:
Previous experience supporting children with speech and language needs is essential
Strong SEN experience, particularly supporting pupils with communication difficulties
Understanding of strategies to support language development and communication skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children
Experience within a primary school setting is desirable
