Full job descriptionAbout The Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused Reuse Shop Assistant to join our brand-new Reuse Shop at Hempsted Recycling Centre.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new service that helps reduce waste, promotes sustainable living and gives unwanted items a second chance. Every item sold helps divert reusable goods from disposal and keeps valuable resources in circulation for longer.

What you’ll be doing

As a Reuse Shop Assistant, you’ll support the Shop Manager in the day-to-day running of the shop while helping create a welcoming and engaging retail environment.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Providing excellent customer service and creating a positive shopping experience.
• Receiving, inspecting, cleaning and preparing donated items for resale.
• Researching and helping to price items to maximise their resale value.
• Assisting with attractive product displays and merchandising.
• Operating the till system and handling cash and card payments accurately.

This role will operate on summer and winter hours:
Summer 08.15 – 17.20 ( shop opening times 09.00 – 16.00 )
Winter 09.15 – 16.20 ( shop opening times 10am – 15.00 )
The working days are Saturday to Wednesday, the shop is closed on Thursday and Friday every week.

You will need
• Previous retail experience
• Full driving licence to be able to drive a range of company vehicles up to3.5 tonnes gross weight
• Excellent customer service skills
• Experience of operating a till and handling cash and card payments
• Good verbal, written communication, numerical and organisational skills
