* £40.00 per hour Umbrella or £30.56 per hour PAYE
About the Role
Reed Talent Solutions are delighted to be partnering with Doncaster Council to recruit an experienced Transport Planner to join the Strategic Transportation Unit.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of transport across Doncaster. You will contribute to the development and delivery of transport strategies, policies, and programmes, while supporting the Council’s vision for sustainable growth and improved connectivity.
The successful candidate will work closely with planning colleagues, developers, stakeholders, and regional partners to ensure transport considerations are effectively integrated into the planning process and wider strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities*Develop, review, and deliver transport strategies, policies, and programmes.
*Assess and provide professional comments on Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans.
*Represent the Strategic Transportation team at Planning Committee meetings.
*Manage and coordinate consultations on planning applications.
*Provide specialist transport advice to partners, stakeholders, and colleagues across the Council.
*Represent Doncaster Council at regional and national forums, influencing transport policy and investment opportunities.
*Support the management, monitoring, and forecasting of capital and revenue budgets related to transportation programmes.
*Monitor the performance of contractors and suppliers delivering transportation services.
*Build and maintain effective partnerships within the Council and with external organisations.
*Prepare detailed reports, recommendations, and presentations for senior officers, Cabinet, and regulatory boards.
*Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of transport planning legislation, policies, and industry best practice.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential Requirements*Degree in Transport Planning, Planning, or a related discipline.
*Experience reviewing, assessing, and negotiating Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans as part of the planning process.
*Experience attending and contributing to Planning Committee meetings.
*Experience producing detailed reports, recommendations, and technical advice for planning colleagues and stakeholders.
*Detailed knowledge of transport policy, planning processes, highway design standards, and relevant legislation.
*Strong influencing, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
*Experience delivering transportation projects across a range of specialist activities.
*Understanding of project management methodologies.
*Proven ability to deliver projects in accordance with policy requirements, design standards, and financial constraints.
Desirable*Experience in strategic transport modelling.
