The role of the Offloading Supervising Chemist is to directly oversee operations in the GWMC Treatment Plant and, in particular, tanker offloading, whilst maintaining the highest level of compliance to the company’s health and safety, environmental, procedural and statutory goals. The Shift Offloading Chemist is responsible for offloading activities, working with a small team of plant operators as part of the operational team reporting to the Shift Manager. To ensure efficient and optimum performance of both plant and personnel in order to provide the highest level of customer service.
Duties/Responsibilities:
*To supervise the offloading of all tankers as directed by the Shift manager
*To assist the Shift Manager in the processing of containerised waste
*To direct traffic in the Treatment Plant, supervise the drivers and provide cover in the weighbridge
*To continually strive towards the highest health & safety goals.
*To maintain and follow company procedures where they impact on operations.
*To assist plant operatives in their duties
*To maintain the highest standards of housekeeping.
*To assist the Shift Manager in supervising the Treatment Plant operatives, including directing their day-to-day work.
*To provide assistance to Shift Manager in carrying out analysis and validation laboratory work.
*To work with the Shift Manager to monitor and improve productivity and efficiencies, including those of the operatives.
*To report maintenance issues and assist where necessary in their resolution.
*To ensure that all records required by statutory regulation and company procedure are maintained.
*Act as Treatment Plant point of contact for the Shift Manager in their absence when required.
*To perform all other reasonable duties and tasks as requested.
Do you have what it takes?*HNC or higher level qualification in Chemistry (or closely aligned subject)
*Reliability
*Dependable
*Computer literate
*Good verbal and written communication skills
