Your new school is a specialist provision supporting children and young people aged 5-19 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many pupils also have additional needs including Autism (ASD), ADHD, communication difficulties, and behavioural challenges. The school offers a therapeutic, nurturing environment focused on helping pupils develop confidence, resilience, and positive relationships.
Your new role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across a broad age range, helping them access learning, regulate emotions, and achieve their individual goals. Working closely with teachers and therapeutic staff, you will provide both 1:1 and small group support, promote positive behaviour, and help create a safe and engaging learning environment.
Key responsibilities include:
*Supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD and additional needs.
*Delivering 1:1 and small group interventions.
*Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
*Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
*Supporting both academic and personal development.
*Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families.
What you’ll need to succeed
*Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, ASD or ADHD.
*A patient, resilient and empathetic approach.
*Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
*The ability to stay calm in challenging situations.
*A genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
