Position: SEND Teaching Assistant
Hours: Full-time
Start: ASAP
Are you an enthusiastic and compassionate individual who enjoys helping children overcome barriers to learning?
A fantastic opportunity has become available for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Rugby, working closely with pupils who have complex additional needs.
This is a rewarding role for someone who is patient, understanding and committed to helping every student feel safe, valued and able to achieve.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will work alongside teaching staff to provide personalised support to pupils throughout the school day. Your role will involve helping students engage with their learning while also supporting their communication, social development and independence.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing dedicated support to pupils with complex SEND
Working with individuals and small groups to encourage participation
Helping students manage their emotions and develop positive behaviours
Supporting learning activities and adapting tasks where necessary
Encouraging communication and independence
Developing positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Working alongside teachers and other professionals to meet individual needs
Creating a calm, structured and nurturing environment
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
Warm, patient and approachable
Confident working with children who have additional needs
Resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations
A positive role model with excellent communication skills
Able to build strong relationships with pupils
Reliable, proactive and willing to go the extra mile
Passionate about helping young people succeed
Experience within SEND, specialist education, care or youth work would be advantageous, but transferable experience will also be considered.
