Full job descriptionExperienced Paraplanner
Wakefield | Office-based
Salary from £40,000 + 12%–18% bonus + 9% employer pension contribution
We are recruiting on behalf of an established, directly authorised independent financial planning firm based in the Wakefield area.
The business provides genuinely independent advice across pensions, investments, protection and tax planning. It has a loyal client base, an experienced advisory team and dedicated paraplanning and administration support.
This opportunity would suit an experienced paraplanner who can confidently manage technical cases with minimal supervision. It may also appeal to a qualified financial adviser who enjoys the technical and planning aspects of the profession but no longer wants a sales-focused or target-driven role.
The role
Working closely with the firm’s financial advisers, you will turn client information and adviser recommendations into accurate, compliant and easily understood financial planning reports.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Preparing suitability reports and supporting documentation
*Reviewing clients’ existing pensions, investments and protection arrangements
*Completing product, provider and fund research
*Analysing client circumstances and financial information
*Supporting advisers with technically sound recommendations
*Producing cash-flow projections and other financial planning scenarios
*Ensuring recommendations meet FCA requirements and internal standards
*Maintaining complete and accurate client files
*Liaising with providers and the administration team to progress cases
*Presenting complex financial information clearly and accessibly
*Managing multiple cases while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
The firm does not provide mortgage advice, so mortgage qualifications or experience are not required.
What we’re looking for
This is not an entry-level position. You will need recent, relevant experience and the technical ability to become productive quickly.
The successful candidate should have:
*Strong working knowledge of pensions and investments
*Experience producing suitability reports and financial planning documentation
*The ability to research and compare products, funds and providers
*A sound understanding of protection and personal tax planning
*Knowledge of FCA requirements and the UK financial planning environment
*Excellent written communication and attention to detail
*Strong organisational and case-management skills
*Confidence working with advisers, administrators and external providers
*Experience using financial planning or industry-specific software
*A collaborative, dependable and positive approach
A Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning, or an equivalent qualification, would be highly desirable. Applications are also welcomed from qualified advisers who want to move away from business-development targets and concentrate on technical financial planning.
Salary and benefits
The package includes:
*Basic salary from £40,000, dependent on experience
*Annual bonus, with recent awards ranging from 12% to 18% of basic salary
*Employer pension contribution equal to 9% of basic salary
*Expected annual earnings of £44,800–£47,200 at a £40,000 basic salary
*Total package value of approximately £48,400–£50,800, including pension
*Annual leave and scheduled early finishes equivalent to at least 37 days per year
*Company-paid parking within easy walking distance of the office
*Company-funded social events and family-inclusive evening meals
*Complimentary refreshments and snacks
*A friendly, informal and supportive working environment
Location and working pattern
This is a full-time, fully office-based position in the Wakefield area. Hybrid or remote working is not available.
If you are an experienced paraplanner—or a qualified adviser looking for a technically focused position without sales targets—we would be pleased to hear from you.
