Full job descriptionHR Manager - Newly Created Standalone Role
Warrington | Permanent | Hybrid working
£40,000-£45,000, with flexibility up to £50,000 depending on experience
Build an HR function from scratch in a genuinely people-centric engineering and manufacturing business based in Warrington.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR generalist who wants to make a newly created role their own. Supporting around 100 employees across two sites, you’ll join a business with a loyal workforce, low staff turnover and a management team that cares about its people.
The Role:
As the business’s first dedicated HR Manager, you’ll report directly to the Managing Director and join the Senior Leadership Team.
You’ll build the dedicated HR function from the ground up, bringing together existing practices following acquisitions and mergers. From everyday employee support to longer-term people planning, you’ll have the scope and backing to shape an HR approach that works for the business and its employees.
Key Responsibilities:
*Establish a consistent HR framework across both sites.
*Review and align policies, employee handbooks and procedures.
*Provide approachable advice on employee relations, with external legal support available.
*Improve onboarding, performance appraisals and employee records.
*Develop training, development and progression processes.
*Strengthen internal communication, employee feedback and recognition.
*Create an initial six-month action plan and a longer-term people strategy.
Payroll experience would be welcome, as there is scope to include this within the role.
About You:
You’ll bring broad HR generalist experience, confidence managing a standalone remit and enthusiasm for building something from the ground up.
You’ll also have:
*Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
*An approachable style that puts people at ease.
*A proactive, organised approach to improving processes.
*The ability to balance hands-on support with longer-term planning.
*The judgement to work independently and seek specialist advice when needed.
Experience of establishing an HR function or aligning practices following organisational change would be particularly valuable.
Why Apply?
This role combines the freedom to build an HR function with the support of a leadership team that values its workforce. You’ll have a voice at senior leadership level, direct access to the Managing Director and the opportunity to make a lasting difference to a great business.
Salary & Benefits:
*£40,000-£45,000, with flexibility up to £50,000 depending on experience.
*Hybrid working and some flexibility around start and finish times.
*25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays and additional holiday for long service.
*Pension and death-in-service cover of three times salary.
*Regular staff social events.
The working week is currently 41 hours, with planned reductions to 40 and then 39 hours.
What’s Next?
If you’re looking for a fantastic opportunity to build and lead HR in a people-centric business in Warrington, we’d love to hear from you. An early start would be welcome, although the business is happy to wait for the right person.
