Academics are currently recruiting a Year 1 Teacher for an upcoming long-term opportunity within a primary school in Rotherham. The role is due to start soon and has the potential to continue beyond the initial placement. We are also keen to hear from Year 1 Teachers who are looking for flexible general supply work across Rotherham.
Position: Year 1 Teacher
Location: Rotherham
Contract: Temporary, long-term with potential to continue / flexible ongoing supply
Pay: £130 - £190 per day (dependent on experience, training, qualifications and client rate available, paid via PAYE - no umbrella company fees, inclusive of holiday pay)
Start Date: September / upcoming
About the Role
This Year 1 Teacher opportunity offers the chance to take on a long-term position within a welcoming primary school in Rotherham. The role will involve taking responsibility for a Year 1 class, delivering engaging lessons and supporting pupils as they continue their transition into Key Stage 1.
The initial position is expected to be long term, with potential for the role to continue for the right candidate. Alongside this vacancy, Academics also work with a variety of primary schools across Rotherham, so candidates interested in general supply work are also encouraged to apply.
As a Year 1 Teacher, you will be expected to create a positive classroom environment, maintain high expectations and provide engaging learning opportunities for all pupils.

*Plan and deliver engaging Year 1 lessons
*Follow the school’s curriculum and planning expectations
*Establish positive relationships with pupils
*Manage behaviour effectively and consistently

*Assess and monitor pupil progress
*Adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs
Candidate Requirements
*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
*Primary teaching experience, ideally within Year 1 or KS1
*Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
*Good knowledge of the KS1 curriculum
*A creative, enthusiastic and adaptable approach
*Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
*Strong communication and organisational skills
