We’re looking for an exceptional Head of Commercial to take a leading role within a high-profile, technically complex infrastructure environment.
This is an opportunity for a commercially astute, hands-on leader who can combine strategic thinking with strong operational delivery, leading commercial performance across major projects while developing and mentoring a high-performing team.
With significant M&E exposure at the heart of the works, this role is ideally suited to an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Leader who understands the complexities of delivering large-scale infrastructure and working within demanding Tier 1 environments.
The OpportunityAs Head of Commercial, you’ll have genuine influence over commercial strategy, governance, risk and performance. You’ll work closely with senior leadership, delivery, finance and clients to ensure projects are commercially robust and positioned for success.
You’ll be responsible for:
*Leading, developing and mentoring a high-performing Commercial/QS team
*Setting and delivering the overall commercial strategy
*Providing senior oversight of commercial risk, governance and performance
*Leading contract negotiations, administration and compliance, predominantly under NEC forms
*Supporting work-winning, bids and tendering activities
*Driving accurate forecasting, cost control and commercial reporting
*Working closely with finance and operational teams to maximise project performance
*Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders
*Driving commercial best practice, consistency and continuous improvement across the business
*Providing senior commercial leadership across complex infrastructure and M&E-related works
What We’re Looking ForWe’re looking for someone who can operate confidently at senior level while remaining close enough to the detail to make a tangible difference.
You’ll ideally bring:
*Proven experience in a Head of Commercial, Commercial Manager, Commercial Director or senior Quantity Surveying leadership position
*Strong M&E commercial/QS experience
*A track record working on large-scale infrastructure projects
*Excellent knowledge of NEC contracts and construction law
*Experience managing commercial teams and developing high-performing professionals
*Strong commercial, contractual and risk-management expertise
*Excellent client and stakeholder management skills
*Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction or a related discipline
*Professional membership such as MRICS, MCIOB or equivalent
*Experience working with or subcontracting into Tier 1 contractors would be highly advantageous
