We are seeking an organised and proactive Transport Officer to join a busy Transport Operations Team on a 12-month temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can provide high-quality operational support to the delivery of Home to School Transport services.
The Role
As a Transport Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day delivery of transport services, ensuring transport requests, records, training and compliance activities are managed efficiently and accurately.
Key duties will include:
*Processing transport requests and maintaining accurate records.
*Managing high-volume administration and data entry.
*Liaising with transport operators, internal departments and external stakeholders.
*Attending face-to-face meetings with transport operators and completing DBC checklists.
*Coordinating crew member training, including arranging dates, maintaining records and ensuring compliance requirements are met.
*Monitoring and updating transport-related data and producing reports as required.
*Providing operational support to the Home to School Transport service.
*Ensuring information is recorded accurately and in line with service procedures.
About You
We are looking for a candidate who can hit the ground running and quickly become a valuable member of the team.
You will have:
*Strong administration, organisational and data management skills.
*Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
*Experience managing a high-volume workload and meeting deadlines.
*Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
*Confidence working with databases, spreadsheets and reporting systems.
*The ability to work independently and use initiative.
Desirable Experience
*Previous experience working within a Local Authority.
*Knowledge or experience of Home to School Transport services.
*Experience within transport, education, social care or a local government setting.
Additional Information
*12-month temporary contract
*£14.83 per hour
*Immediate start preferred
*Office attendance required every Monday, with some Tuesdays depending on service needs.
*Full-time hours.
