The companyOur client is an established UK manufacturer of specialist commercial and industrial textile products.
The company designs and manufactures bespoke solutions for customers across the building, transport, engineering, automotive, defence and leisure sectors.
Its capabilities include protective coverings and fabricated textile products designed to protect valuable assets during storage and transportation.
With UK manufacturing capability and an experienced operational team, the business can develop solutions around individual customer requirements rather than relying on a standard catalogue range.
The roleAs Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for developing sales across the modular building, holiday-home and offsite construction sectors.
You will work with manufacturers to understand how their units are protected while being stored, handled and transported. You will then work closely with the internal team to develop the appropriate solution.

*Park-home manufacturers
*Portable building and cabin manufacturers
*Offsite construction businesses
*Welfare-unit manufacturers

*Understanding customers’ production, storage and transportation requirements
*Developing opportunities for bespoke protective covers and textile solutions
*Working with internal teams to produce appropriate specifications and quotations
*Managing opportunities from initial contact through to commercial agreement
*Developing existing accounts and identifying further applications
*Building a strong and sustainable sales pipeline
*Representing the company at customer meetings and relevant industry events
*Providing market feedback to support future product and commercial development
This is not a catalogue-led sales position. Customer requirements will vary, so you will need to ask the right questions, understand the application and coordinate a solution that meets their operational needs.
What are we looking for?You will be an experienced business development professional with the ability to open new accounts and develop relationships within a manufacturing or construction-related market.
Experience within one or more of the following would be particularly relevant:
*Modular or portable buildings
*Holiday homes, park homes or lodges
*Offsite construction
*Construction products
*Protective packaging or industrial covers
*Specialist transportation
*Temporary accommodation or welfare units
*Industrial textile products
*Bespoke manufacturing solutions
Direct experience of textile products is not essential. More important is your ability to understand a customer’s application and sell a tailored physical product or manufacturing solution.
You will need:
*A proven record of winning new business
*Experience selling into manufacturers or industrial customers
*Strong prospecting and relationship-development skills
*A consultative and commercially aware approach
*The ability to communicate with operational, technical and procurement contacts
*Good negotiation and presentation skills
*The motivation and organisation required to work remotely
*The ability to manage a broad geographical customer base
*A full UK driving licence
The position is remote, although regular customer visits and occasional travel to the company’s manufacturing facility will be required. The preferred location is within the Midlands or North of England, up to the M62 corridor.
If you want to develop a specialist market, sell a tangible bespoke solution and represent an established British manufacturer, we would like to hear from you.
