Macildowie Finance is recruiting an experienced Legal Cashier on behalf of an established organisation based in Nottingham. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy, collaborative Finance team in a role that is central to the organisation’s financial controls, regulatory compliance and day-to-day operations.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for processing client-money transactions accurately and securely while ensuring full compliance with the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules (SAR). You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, providing clear guidance and maintaining the highest standards of financial accuracy.
Key responsibilities*Processing client-account receipts, payments and transfers in accordance with the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules
*Completing daily compliance checks and reporting any breaches or exceptions
*Maintaining accurate and fully reconciled client ledgers
*Advising internal stakeholders on the correct treatment of client money and SAR requirements
*Processing domestic, international and foreign-currency payments
*Verifying payment instructions against supporting documentation and internal authentication procedures
*Receiving and allocating incoming funds, including resolving unallocated receipts
*Maintaining accurate records for all cashiering transactions
*Producing financial reports and reconciliation statements
*Supporting month-end and year-end processes
*Providing information and documentation for internal and external audits
*Identifying opportunities to improve processes and supporting the maintenance of procedure documents
*Assisting the wider Finance team with additional duties and cover when required
About youTo be considered for this opportunity, you will need:
*Experience using legal accounting software and electronic banking or payment systems
*Strong numerical skills and exceptional attention to detail
*Good general IT skills and confident keyboard ability
*The ability to work accurately under pressure and meet important deadlines
*A logical, methodical approach and the confidence to question information when necessary
*Clear and professional communication skills
*A proactive, self-motivated and resilient attitude
*The ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels
Previous experience in legal accounts or a legal-sector finance environment would be advantageous. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word would also be beneficial.
