Are you an experienced auditor looking for a role where you can take ownership of assignments, build strong client relationships and continue developing your career within a supportive practice environment? We’re working with a well-established accountancy practice that is continuing to grow and is looking for an Audit Senior to join its team. You’ll work closely with managers and directors across a varied portfolio, gaining exposure to a broad range of clients while taking an active role in delivering high-quality external audits.
The Role
As an Audit Senior, you’ll take responsibility for audits from planning through to completion, working directly with clients and providing support and guidance to more junior members of the team.
The role offers a good balance of technical audit work, client interaction and team leadership, making it well suited to someone who wants to build towards an Assistant Manager position.
What you’ll be doing*Planning and completing external audit assignments across a diverse client portfolio.
*Taking responsibility for audit fieldwork, testing, analytical review and completion procedures.
*Leading smaller audit teams on-site and ensuring assignments are delivered efficiently.
*Building trusted relationships with clients and developing a strong understanding of their businesses.
*Reviewing the work of trainees and junior team members, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
*Supporting managers and directors with more complex assignments and technical matters.
*Identifying potential issues during audits and communicating findings clearly to clients and senior colleagues.
*Ensuring all work is completed accurately and in line with relevant UK auditing and accounting standards.
*Contributing to the continued development of junior team members through coaching and mentoring.
What we’re looking for
You’ll ideally be ACA or ACCA qualified, or actively working towards your qualification, with solid experience gained within external audit.
You should have:
*Previous audit experience within an accountancy practice.
*Experience of working across a varied portfolio, including owner-managed businesses and SMEs.
*Strong understanding of audit planning, fieldwork, testing and completion.
*Confidence communicating with clients and managing relationships independently.
*Experience supervising or reviewing the work of junior colleagues.
*Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work.
*Good commercial awareness and the ability to understand how different businesses operate.
*Strong written and verbal communication skills.
*A proactive attitude and genuine interest in progressing your career.
*Experience with CCH or similar audit/accounting software would be advantageous.
