Full job descriptionAn exciting and challenging opportunity has become available to join HMP Woodhill in Milton Keynes, as a Contractor Escort working as part of a third-party company.
This company is responsible for delivering all maintenance works within the prison.We are recruiting a number of Escorts to work at HMP Woodhill for an upcoming project, expected to be ongoing for the next 18-36 months. This is a long-term temporary contract offering sociable, full-time hours, possible overtime, and an opportunity to kick-start a career within the prison service.

Your New RoleTo ensure the safety and secure passage of MOJ and non-MOJ personnel assigned to you in the capacity of the Escort role. You will carry out escorting duties to support the efficient delivery of project works and planned/minor maintenance tasks as assigned by your Line Manager.

Escort Duties and Responsibilities:
*Booking in and escorting all contractors, tools and vehicles within the establishment.
*Checking all tools and plant equipment, ensuring tool registers remain accurate and up to date.
*Supervising contractors at all times while on site.
*Ensuring and enforcing the use of appropriate PPE at all times.
*Maintaining regular communication via radio network where appropriate.
*Keeping account of those in your charge and maintaining proper order.
*Supporting incidents as the first person on scene and working as part of a team to resolve issues.
*Being aware of prisoners’ rights, dignity and personal responsibilities.
You may be required to perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time by your Line Manager, Project Manager or Site Manager.
Where appropriate, all necessary training will be provided to enable these additional duties to be carried out safely.

The successful applicant will be expected to undertake reasonable additional duties of a similar level when required.

*Pay Frequency: Weekly
*Hourly Rate: £15.07 per hour including holiday pay
*Working Days: Monday to Friday
*Hours: Minimum 37 hours per week
*Location: HMP Woodhill, Milton Keynes
*Additional Information: Standard working hours are currently between 8:00am and 4:00pm, although these may vary depending on project requirements and contractor needs.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
You will need to be honest, hardworking, reliable, trustworthy and have excellent attention to detail, whilst also being a strong team player. Full training will be provided on site, so previous experience is not essential.
All applicants must successfully pass Prison Security Clearance, which can take up to 8 weeks to complete. Once obtained, clearance is valid for 5 years and can often be transferred to other prisons of a similar category.
Experience and Training
*No formal qualifications are required.
*Applicants with a background in security, customer service, construction or similar environments are encouraged to apply, although full training will be provided.
*Applicants must be able to provide two satisfactory references covering the last three years.
*Applicants must have indefinite leave to remain in the UK.
*Applicants must be willing to undergo security clearance and identity checks.
*Full training is provided by the establishment and training time will be paid at the standard hourly rate.
