Full job descriptionMEP Design Manager – MEP Contractor – £80,000
A leading MEP contractor is looking for an experienced MEP Design Manager to take ownership of design delivery across major building-services projects, working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and site teams.
The Role*Lead MEP design delivery from pre-construction through to completion.
*Manage the design process across mechanical, electrical and public health services.
*Review consultant designs for coordination, buildability and compliance.
*Lead design reviews and technical coordination meetings.
*Manage design programmes, deliverables and key design milestones.
*Coordinate consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams.
*Review technical submissions, drawings, specifications and calculations.
*Identify design risks and develop practical solutions.
*Manage RFIs, technical queries and design changes.
*Support procurement and subcontractor engagement.
*Provide technical input into tenders and pre-construction activities.
*Work closely with commercial and project management teams.
*Ensure design information is suitable for construction.
*Monitor design quality and compliance with project requirements.
*Support value engineering and design optimisation.
*Manage the production and review of coordinated MEP information.
*Liaise with clients, architects, structural engineers and specialist consultants.
*Assist with programme planning and design resource requirements.
*Maintain accurate design records and documentation.
*Support commissioning, handover and close-out activities.
Requirements*Strong MEP design background within a contractor or specialist MEP environment.
*Previous Design Manager / Senior Design Manager experience.
*Good understanding of mechanical and electrical building services.
*Strong technical coordination and communication skills.
*Experience managing consultants and subcontractors.
*Ability to work across multiple project stages.
*Relevant engineering or construction qualification preferred.
Salary: £80,000 per annum
