What you might want to know is whether this is a decent job, with sensible hours, where you’ll be trusted to get on with what you’re good at, it is.
They need someone to take ownership of the purchase ledger and keep it accurate, organised and up to date.
No drama, no reinventing the finance function, just someone dependable who knows purchase ledger properly and can get on with the job without needing their hand held.
What will you actually be doing?
You’ll look after the day-to-day purchase ledger, including:
*Processing purchase invoices
*Matching invoices against POs and delivery paperwork
*Reconciling supplier statements
*Investigating discrepancies
*Dealing with supplier queries by phone and email
*Preparing supplier payments
*Maintaining supplier records
*Keeping on top of outstanding invoices
*Making sure the ledger is accurate and up to date
*Helping the wider finance team with general finance administration when needed


What are they looking for?
The main thing is proper, hands-on purchase ledger experience.
You might currently be a Purchase Ledger Assistant, Accounts Payable Assistant, Finance Assistant or Bookkeeper. Your job title isn’t particularly important.
What matters is that you understand purchase ledger and can take responsibility for it.
You’ll need to be organised, accurate and comfortable managing your own workload. You should also be confident speaking to suppliers and sorting out queries rather than letting them sit in an inbox indefinitely.
