We are currently recruiting for a Kitchen Assistant to join a friendly school catering team in Oakham on a temporary basis to cover staff sickness until 18th December 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and hardworking individual who enjoys working in a busy kitchen environment and takes pride in maintaining high standards of food preparation and cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
*Assisting with the preparation of high-quality meals for pupils and staff
*Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen and dining areas
*Using kitchen equipment and machinery safely and correctly
*Assisting with deliveries, including loading and unloading stock
*Supporting the catering team to ensure a smooth and efficient service
*Following Food Hygiene and Food Handling regulations
*Adhering to all Health & Safety procedures
About You
*Previous kitchen, catering, or food service experience is desirable
*Able to work effectively under pressure and prioritise tasks
*A strong team player with a positive attitude
*Organised, reliable, and committed
*Flexible and adaptable to changing demands
*Excellent timekeeping and attendance record
*Strong communication skills
Essential Requirements
*Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
*Available to start immediately
*Able to commit to the role until 18th December 2026
