Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking for a new opportunity? Do you have a strong mechanical design background and enjoy developing practical, manufacturable products?
We are working with a specialist engineering business in Stevenage who are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. This is a predominantly design-focused position, working across both mechanical and electrical considerations and taking ownership of product development and improvements.

Salary: £45,000–£55,000

Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description
*Design panels, enclosures, brackets, fixings and sheet-metal components.
*Produce detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings.
*Develop new designs from concept through to manufacture.
*Work closely with electrical engineers to accommodate switches, wiring, controls and electrical components.
*Review existing products and implement design improvements.
*Ensure designs are practical, cost-effective and suitable for manufacture and assembly.
*Support bespoke and customer-specific design requirements.
*Liaise with manufacturing, suppliers and customers on technical and design queries.
*Take ownership of projects and contribute to the continued development of the company’s product range.
Mechanical Design Engineer
*5+ years’ experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
*Strong design-focused background with experience taking products from concept through to manufacture.
*Experience with electrical/mechanical products, enclosures or panels would be advantageous.
*Experience designing lighting control panels would be highly beneficial.
*Strong 3D CAD and engineering drawing skills.
*Excellent attention to detail.
*Strong communicator who can work effectively with electrical and manufacturing teams.
*Comfortable working across both mechanical and electrical considerations.
*Able to take ownership of projects and work with a high level of autonomy.
