About the Role

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant studying towards ACCA or CIMA to join a growing finance team in Derby.
This is a great opportunity for someone with manufacturing, engineering or accountancy practice experience who is looking to develop their career in industry. You’ll gain broad exposure across month-end, reporting, reconciliations, stock, GRNI and year-end, with study support and career progression available.
Responsibilities
*Bank reconciliations and cash book postings.
*Support VAT returns and financial reporting.
*Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments and depreciation.
*Manage sales invoicing, credit notes and the sales ledger.
*Issue statements and support credit control.
*Assist with month-end, reconciliations and reporting.
*Prepare debtor, GRNI and cost centre reports.
*Process and reconcile intercompany recharges.
*Support year-end and audit requirements.
*Provide payroll cover when required.
Requirements
* Previous accounts/finance experience, within a manufacturing, engineering or product-based environment, or an accountancy practice.
*Currently studying towards ACCA or CIMA, with a genuine desire to progress towards qualification.
*Good understanding of accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping.
*Experience with reconciliations, journals and sales/purchase ledgers.
*Ideally, exposure to stock, GRNI, purchase orders or manufacturing finance processes.
*Good Excel skills and strong attention to detail.
*Experience using an ERP/accounting system; D365 experience would be desirable.
*Organised, reliable and able to meet deadlines.
*Commercially minded, with an understanding of how finance supports the wider business.
