Full job descriptionQuest Search & Selection are looking for a commercially focused Senior Buying Manager to join a product-led business that is an independent retail business with a strong national presence.
This established retail business combines a long heritage with a commercially driven approach to product, sourcing, category development and customer experience. The role offers hands-on leadership and ownership of category strategy, product development, range planning, stock, margin and supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities of this Senior Buying Managerrole -
*Leads product strategy, sourcing, range development and successful in-store launches.
*Drives sales, margin, stock and overall commercial performance.
*Develops and mentors the team, building strong commercial capability.
*Uses customer, market and competitor insight to optimise product ranges.
*Manages supplier, distribution and logistics relationships and costs.
*Ensures product compliance with relevant legislation and certification.
*Builds relationships with retail locations, suppliers and key stakeholders.
*Supports wider strategic and commercial projects as required.
To be successful in this Senior Buying Managerrole -
*Ideally having experience within buying, category, merchandising, management or product development
*Experience within home, lifestyle, garden, seasonal, furniture would be particularly relevant
*You must be operating as a Lead, Manager or Head of level
*Leadership qualities are essential as you are leading a team of 4 people (within buying & mrchandising)
*Need to drive to visit stores and suppliers etc
*Commercially strong and confident working with sales, margin, stock and KPI data
*Experience developing and selecting product ranges
*Strong supplier management and negotiation skills
*Strong prioritisation skills and the ability to manage competing demands
*Confident challenging existing thinking and identifying new opportunities
