The Opportunity We are currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join a busy finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience working within an accountancy practice who is looking to start immediately.
You will possess a solid understanding of core accounting principles, alongside exposure to basic tax compliance and self-assessment processes.
Key Responsibilities
*Bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records
*Assisting with the preparation of VAT returns
*Supporting month-end processes and management accounts preparation
*Liaising with clients and responding to finance-related queries
*Assisting with bookkeeping duties across a portfolio of clients
*Supporting the preparation and submission of self-assessment tax returns
*Assisting with basic personal tax computations
*Maintaining client records and ensuring compliance deadlines are met
*General finance administration and ad hoc support to the wider team
Candidate Requirements *Previous experience working within an accountancy practice is essential
*Experience of bookkeeping and management of day-to-day accounting records
*Exposure to self-assessment tax returns and basic tax compliance duties
*Proficiency with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar
*Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
*Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
*AAT qualified or currently studying (desirable but not essential)
*Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities
