The Opportunity
A well-established and growing accountancy practice based in Hornchurch is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join its friendly and supportive team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a practice-based Bookkeeper looking to join a reputable firm with a diverse client portfolio. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting a range of owner-managed businesses, delivering accurate bookkeeping services and building strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
*Managing bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients across various sectors
*Preparing and submitting VAT returns
*Processing sales and purchase ledgers
*Performing bank reconciliations and control account reconciliations
*Assisting with management accounts preparation
*Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and obtain information
*Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring deadlines are met
*Supporting the wider accounts team where required
About You
*Previous bookkeeping experience gained within an accountancy practice is essential
*Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping principles
*Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns
*Confident using cloud-based accounting software, including Xero, Sage, and/or QuickBooks
*Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
*Strong communication skills with a professional and client-focused approach
*AAT qualified or qualified by experience would be advantageous
