Are you an experienced Finance Manager with a strong technical accounting background and a passion for improving processes, controls and financial reporting?
We are recruiting for a General Ledger Finance Manager to join a well-established organisation in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys leading a team, taking ownership of the month-end process and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger.
The role
As General Ledger Finance Manager, you will take responsibility for the smooth running of the general ledger function, providing strong financial control and ensuring accurate and timely reporting.Key responsibilities will include:
*Leading and managing the General Ledger finance team, supporting their development and performance
*Owning the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are consistently achieved
*Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining strong financial controls
*Overseeing journals, accruals, prepayments and other general ledger activities
*Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information across the ledger
*Supporting statutory reporting, audit requirements and wider financial compliance
*Identifying opportunities to improve and streamline finance processes
*Working closely with senior finance stakeholders and wider business teams
*Supporting finance transformation and system improvement initiatives where required
What you’ll need to succeed
*Strong experience within General Ledger, Financial Accounting or Finance Manager roles
*Excellent understanding of month-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
*Previous experience managing or developing a finance team
*Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
*The confidence to challenge existing processes and drive improvements
*Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with stakeholders across the business
*A recognised accounting qualification or strong qualification-by-experience background
