The role
You’ll report into the Senior Manager for this growing business and look after your own portfolio of SME, start-up and owner-managed clients. You’ll be their main point of contact and trusted advisor, covering everything from bookkeeping review to year-end accounts and tax. You’ll also help shape how the team delivers its services as it grows.
This is a predominantly a role that will be reviewing the working papers / accounts prepared by the team - candidates must have review experience and must have worked with high client volumes.
What you’ll be doing
*Review and sign off work prepared by team members before submission, including PAYE and VAT registrations, payroll and RTI submissions, VAT returns and CIS returns
*Review year-end statutory accounts prepared under FRS 105, FRS 102 Section 1A and FRS 102, together with the related corporation tax returns
*Review Self Assessment tax returns for company directors
*Prepare more complex or non-standard accounts and returns yourself where needed
*Manage your own review queue independently, prioritising by statutory deadline and risk across a high volume of clients
*Give clear, constructive feedback to preparers, helping to raise first-time quality across the team
*Review bookkeeping and bank reconciliations in Xero, making sure client records are accurate, complete and up to date
*Handle technical client queries, escalating complex or high-risk matters to the Accounting Manager
*Managing statutory deadlines so every filing goes in accurately and on time
*Mentoring and reviewing the work of junior colleagues
*Helping build internal guidance and templates, and improving processes, tools and client education
What you’ll bring
*Fully qualified: ACA, ACCA or equivalent
*Strong working knowledge of FRS 102/105, corporation tax, VAT and Self Assessment
*Confident talking to clients, with a practical, commercial approach to advice
*Organised enough to handle a busy portfolio and multiple deadlines
*Happy to share what you know and support the wider team
