About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced procurement professional to join a forward-thinking local authority as a Category Advisor within its Commercial Services function.
Working as part of a developing procurement team, you will play a key role in delivering category management strategies, driving value for money, supporting organisational transformation programmes, and helping achieve significant financial savings.
The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, providing commercial expertise throughout the procurement lifecycle and ensuring compliance with public procurement regulations.
Opportunities are available across a range of category areas, offering exposure to high-profile procurement projects and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
*Lead and support end-to-end procurement and tendering activity.
*Develop and implement category management strategies.
*Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
*Identify and deliver cashable savings and wider value outcomes.
*Provide commercial advice and guidance across a variety of spend categories.
*Support the implementation of procurement legislation and best practice.
*Contribute to social value, sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives.
*Ensure robust contract management and governance processes are followed.
We are keen to hear from procurement professionals who can demonstrate:
*Experience within public sector procurement, ideally local government.
*Strong knowledge of procurement regulations and category management principles.
*Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
*Experience delivering complex procurement projects from inception to contract award.
*Strong commercial awareness and analytical capability.
*MCIPS qualification or working towards MCIPS would be advantageous.
