Salary: £35,000 plus commission
Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire
Robert Walters is partnering with an established organisation based in Bedford, Bedfordshire, who are looking to recruit a Credit Controller to join their finance team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys the customer-facing side of credit control, as the role will be heavily focused on telephone-based debt collection, building customer relationships and driving timely payments. The business is keen to embrace AI and automation, with a focus on streamlining processes and reducing manual administration. They’re looking for someone who is tech-savvy, proactive and interested in finding smarter ways of working. Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting systems would be beneficial.
Key responsibilities:
*Proactively contact customers by phone and email to chase outstanding debt.
*Build strong customer relationships and resolve payment queries.
*Reduce debtor days and overdue balances.
*Agree payment plans and follow up on commitments.
*Monitor customer accounts, credit limits and potential risks.
*Liaise with internal teams, insurers and solicitors where required.
*Identify opportunities to improve processes through automation and more efficient ways of working.
About you:
*Previous experience in credit control or accounts receivable.
*Confident communicator who enjoys speaking with customers and negotiating payments.
*Proactive, organised and commercially minded.
*Tech-savvy, with an interest in AI, automation and process improvement.
*Experience with Excel and accounting systems such as Sage Intacct or similar.
*Able to work independently and take ownership of customer accounts.

*£35,000 salary plus commission.
*Hybrid working: 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.
