Job Description:
Full job descriptionYour new school
Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Birmingham that is seeking a SEN Teacher to join their team on a full-time basis. You will be teaching SEN in the morning and then PPA cover in the afternoon.

Due to an increase in pupils requiring additional support, alongside a maternity leave within the teaching team, the school is looking to appoint a passionate practitioner who can make a positive impact across the school.

What makes this opportunity stand out is the school itself. We have placed staff there previously and the feedback is consistently excellent. Staff describe it as a positive, supportive and welcoming environment where leadership is approachable, visible and genuinely invested in both pupil and staff well being. The school has a collaborative culture and a strong nurturing ethos, ensuring both children and staff feel valued and supported.

Your new role
This is a full-time, 1-year maternity cover position, starting in December 2026, potentially earlier.
The role offers a varied and rewarding timetable:
*Morning sessions teaching within the school’s nurture provision, supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them develop academically, socially and emotionally.
*Afternoon sessions providing PPA cover across the school, delivering engaging lessons across a range of year groups.
What you’ll need to succeed
*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
*Experience teaching pupils with SEND within a primary setting.
*A strong understanding of strategies to support children with additional learning, social, emotional or behavioural needs.
*The flexibility and confidence to teach across different primary year groups.
*Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
*A nurturing, patient and proactive approach.
What you’ll get in return
*A rewarding role within a supportive and inclusive school community.
*Competitive daily rate paid to scale, depending on experience.
*Ongoing support from a dedicated Hays Education consultant.
*Access to professional development and training opportunities.
*Opportunity to secure further roles through Hays upon completion of the placement.
