Full job descriptionYour new company
A well-established and highly respected not-for-profit organisation in Burnley is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team on a permanent basis. This organisation has a strong community focus and delivers meaningful services that make a genuine difference across the region. Offering a collaborative and supportive working environment, this role would suit an experienced finance professional looking for stability, flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to a purpose-led organisation.
Your new role
In your new role as Assistant Accountant, you will support the production of monthly management accounts whilst taking ownership of a range of transactional and reconciliatory accounting duties. Key responsibilities will include:
*Assisting with the preparation of management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
*Posting and reconciling accruals, prepayments, accrued income and deferred income.
*Carrying out intercompany reconciliations and posting internal recharges.
*Managing the purchase ledger function and processing supplier payment runs.
*Extracting, reconciling and posting transactions from online platforms such as PayPal and Stripe.
*Supporting month-end processes and ensuring financial information is accurate and timely.
*Working extensively with Excel to analyse and reconcile financial data.
What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will be AAT qualified or actively studying towards a professional accounting qualification. You will have previous experience supporting management accounts preparation and be confident handling balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments. Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs, are essential. Experience within a not-for-profit environment would be advantageous but is by no means essential.
What you’ll get in return
In return, you will receive a salary of circa £35,000 alongside a comprehensive benefits package. The organisation offers a 35-hour working week, hybrid working arrangements and a supportive team environment.
