Job OverviewWe are recruiting for a Senior Accountant to join a friendly, established accountancy practice based in Altrincham.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practice experience who enjoys working closely with clients and wants to continue developing their career within a supportive, close-knit team.
The role offers exposure to a varied portfolio of clients across a range of sectors and business structures, with plenty of opportunity to take ownership of your work and develop your technical and client-facing skills.
The ideal candidate will be approachable, organised and keen to progress within accountancy, while contributing positively to the wider team.


Responsibilities*Managing a portfolio of clients, including day-to-day communication via email and telephone.
*Preparing accounts and financial statements for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
*Preparing and submitting VAT returns and supporting clients with MTD ITSA requirements.
*Preparing self-assessment tax returns for clients.
*Building strong, professional relationships with clients and providing a high level of service.
*Taking ownership of deadlines and managing a varied workload effectively.
*Supporting colleagues and contributing to a collaborative, supportive team environment.
*Assisting with queries and providing guidance to clients where appropriate.


Requirements*At least 5 years’ experience working within an accountancy practice, with over 5 years’ experience preferred.
*Experience using accounting software such as Xero and QuickBooks.
*Experience with TaxCalc is desirable, but not essential.
*Good working knowledge of accounts preparation, VAT and personal tax.
*Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing deadlines.
*Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
*A professional and personable approach to client relationships.
*Experience supporting or mentoring junior members of a team would be advantageous.
*AAT, ACCA or another relevant qualification is preferred, although equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
*Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a small, collaborative team.
