Are you an experienced Accounts Assistant looking for a role where you can take ownership, make a genuine impact and develop your career?
I’m working with a rapidly growing business in Rotherham that is expanding its operations globally and investing in the future of its finance function. They’re looking for a Senior Accounts Assistant to join the team on an initial temporary to permanent basis, providing support as soon as possible.
Working closely with the Financial Controller, you’ll play an important role in keeping the day to day finances running smoothly while helping to build and develop the finance function as the business continues to grow. This is an opportunity to join an established business at an exciting stage of its journey, with the potential to develop into management accounts as your experience grows.
The Role
You’ll take ownership of the day to day transactional finance activities, ensuring accurate financial records, strong processes and reliable reporting to support business decisions.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Taking ownership of the purchase and sales ledgers, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
*Completing regular bank, supplier and customer account reconciliations.
*Supporting the production of financial reports for the senior leadership team.
*Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring accounts are kept up to date.
*Working closely with the Financial Controller to support the wider finance function.
*Identifying opportunities to improve processes as the business continues to expand.
*Assisting with VAT returns and CIS reporting, with support and development available if these are areas you’d like to develop your experience in.
*Taking on additional responsibilities as the finance team develops, with the opportunity to progress into management accounts.
About You
You’ll be a hands-on finance professional who enjoys taking responsibility, working as part of a team and being involved in more than just processing transactions.
We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:
*Strong experience across both purchase ledger and sales ledger.
*Confidence completing reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records.
*Experience producing financial reports or supporting month-end activities.
*Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
*The ability to manage your workload, take ownership and work closely with senior finance colleagues.
*A genuine interest in developing your skills and progressing towards management accounts.
*Experience with VAT and CIS would be beneficial, but it isn’t essential. The business is happy to support someone who is keen to learn and develop in these areas.
