We’re working with a growing independent firm in Northampton that is seeking an Accountant to support a diverse portfolio of SME clients. This position offers an excellent blend of accounts preparation, bookkeeping, VAT work and client interaction, making it ideal for someone who enjoys providing a well-rounded service to owner-managed businesses.

Key Responsibilities
*Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
*Managing bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients
*Preparing and submitting VAT returns
*Assisting with management accounts production
*Processing journals, accruals and prepayments
*Reconciling bank, sales and purchase ledgers
*Supporting clients with accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks and Sage
*Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and provide ongoing support
*Assisting with corporation tax and self-assessment information gathering
*Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance deadlines are met
About You
*AAT Qualified (or equivalent experience within practice)
*Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
*Experience preparing accounts for a range of SME clients
*Good bookkeeping and VAT knowledge
*Familiar with cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks and Sage
*Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
*Comfortable managing client relationships and prioritising workloads
*Positive, team-oriented approach with excellent communication skills
