Full job descriptionFinancial Administrator – 9 Months Maternity Cover- SJP
Location: Northampton
Salary: £27,000–£30,000 FTE, dependent on experience
Contract: Fixed-term maternity cover (January–September 2027, with potential for a permanent position)
Working Pattern: Full-time or part-time | Flexible hours | Office-based, hybrid or remote (depending on experience)
About the Opportunity
A friendly, family-run St. James’s Place (SJP) Partner Practice based in Northampton is looking for an experienced IFA Administrator to join its growing team on an initial maternity cover contract.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive, close-knit business that genuinely values its people, promotes a healthy work-life balance and understands the importance of flexibility around family commitments.
The role will involve providing technical administration support to the Paraplanner and wider financial advice team, helping to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of financial planning services to clients.
Although initially a fixed-term position, the practice is growing, and there may be an opportunity for the role to become permanent for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
*Updating and maintaining Client Fact Finds (CFRs) and Salesforce records.
*Processing new business applications and supporting documentation.
*Preparing illustrations and relevant financial planning paperwork.
*Supporting the Paraplanner with file notes and administration relating to pension and investment transfer cases.
*Maintaining accurate client records and ensuring documentation is completed to a high standard.
*Providing general technical and administrative support to the financial planning team.
*Liaising with colleagues, providers and other relevant parties to support efficient case progression.
About You
We are looking for an organised, proactive and detail-oriented administrator with experience within financial services, ideally within a St. James’s Place Partner Practice.
The successful candidate will be confident managing their workload, able to work independently where required and comfortable supporting a busy financial planning team.
Ideally, you will have:
*Previous experience in an IFA or financial planning administration role.
*St. James’s Place experience, enabling you to integrate quickly into the business.
*Knowledge of systems such as Salesforce, My Practice, Sofi AI, FE Analytics and iBusiness.
*Experience processing new business and preparing financial planning documentation.
*Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
*A professional, positive and collaborative approach.
Flexible Working That Works for You
We understand that experienced professionals need a role that works around their lives, not the other way around.
The practice is genuinely open to flexible working arrangements and would particularly welcome applications from working parents seeking a better work-life balance.
Potential arrangements include:
*School-hours working: Monday to Friday, with flexibility around the school day.
*Remote working: Available for an experienced SJP administrator who can work independently with minimal training or supervision.
*Hybrid working: A combination of home and office working.
*Office-based working: For candidates who prefer to work alongside the team.
The practice recognises that family commitments matter, whether that means attending school assemblies, sports days or other important events.
What’s on Offer?
*A competitive salary of £27,000–£30,000 FTE, depending on experience.
*An initial maternity cover contract from January until at least September 2027.
*Potential for a permanent, full-time position as the business continues to grow.
*Genuine flexibility around working hours and location.
*A welcoming, family-run business with a supportive team culture.
*A positive working environment where work-life balance is actively encouraged.
