Year 1 Primary Teacher

Year 1 Primary Teacher – The Role

*Full-time, long-term role through agency

*Monday to Friday
*Full class teacher responsibilities
*Planning, preparing and delivering engaging lessons
*Assessing and monitoring pupils’ progress
*Creating a positive, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
*Working closely with colleagues and the wider school team


Year 1 Primary Teacher – Key Responsibilities
As a Year 1 Primary Teacher, you will:


*Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
*Take full responsibility for teaching and learning within a Year 1 class.
*Assess, monitor and record pupils’ progress, providing constructive feedback to support development.
*Create a positive, safe and stimulating classroom environment.
*Support pupils’ transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1.
*Establish clear classroom routines and promote positive behaviour.
*Adapt teaching approaches to meet the individual needs and abilities of all pupils.
*Encourage independence, confidence and a love of learning.
*Maintain accurate records of pupil attainment and contribute to future planning.
*Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues and the wider school team.
*Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupils’ progress and well-being.
Year 1 Primary Teacher – About You
The successful Year 1 Primary Teacher will have:


*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
*Previous primary teaching experience, ideally within Year 1 or Key Stage 1.
*Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum and effective teaching practices.
*Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
*The ability to plan and deliver engaging, creative and differentiated lessons.
*A nurturing, patient and positive approach to supporting young learners.
*Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
*The ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet pupils’ individual needs.
*A proactive and flexible approach to working within a school environment.
*A genuine passion for helping children develop academically, socially and emotionally.
