Job Description:
Full job descriptionThis is a structured entry point into a career in financial planning at a Chartered firm with an established and well-regarded development programme. It is not a role for someone simply attracted to financial services — it is for someone who has thought carefully about what a Financial Planner actually does and can articulate clearly why this is the profession they want to build a career in.
The firm operates from several sites across the south and takes genuine pride in developing its own talent. The Academy programme is overseen by a dedicated Adviser Development Manager and provides a structured pathway from trainee through to Chartered Financial Planner status, with qualification support, salary progression and the opportunity to work alongside an experienced team of Chartered and Diploma-qualified advisers from day one.
The right candidate is likely to have had two or three years of experience since leaving education — whether in financial services or elsewhere. What matters more than a pre-existing technical skillset is attitude, potential, and personality. The firm is looking for someone bright, commercially aware, and genuinely ambitious, who carries themselves well, communicates with confidence and maturity, and has the resilience to understand that becoming a Financial Planner takes time and commitment. Evidence of achievement outside of academic results — sport, employment, volunteering, entrepreneurial activity — will be noted.
The salary rises upon achievement of CII qualification milestones (RO papers), with further progression as adviser status is attained. A discretionary bonus applies during the training period, alongside pension, life cover, income protection and private medical insurance.
The firm is serious about what it does, but equally serious about enjoying it. The question they will be asking at interview is straightforward: could this person develop into a Financial Planner that clients would genuinely enjoy working with?
