Job Description:
Full job descriptionWe are looking for someone whose core focus will be managing insurance, including loss prevention and claims administration, alongside thorough contract review for our EUA Legal & Insurance team. In this role, you will operate with deliberate flexibility, shifting seamlessly between the insurance, contract review, and loss prevention domains as business needs and workloads evolve. You will also be actively involved in supporting the delivery of key departmental projects, ensuring your skills are applied dynamically to meet the broader goals of the team.
The Role
Insurance, Loss Prevention & Claims (Core)
*Corporate Insurance: Work with the Assistant Manager, Loss Prevention and ONE’s insurance brokers on policy renewals and the annual tender process for property, general liability, employer’s liability and travel insurance. Check that the insurance requirements in customer and vendor contracts match the cover ONE holds.
*Incident & Claims Support: Support the Assistant Manager, Loss Prevention in overseeing regional incident responses and P&I/ claims administration with ONE EUA offices and Third-Party Agents.
*Documentation: Answer documentation queries (bills of lading, indemnities, letters of credit) and help draft proforma documentation such as Letters of Indemnity.
*Survey & Root-Cause Analysis: Help assess the quality of survey reports. Carry out root-cause and trend analysis on recurring incidents (e.g., lost bills of lading, misdelivery, abandoned cargo) and maintain KPI trackers.
*LPO Network & Workshops: Support the EUA Loss Prevention Officer network, help plan and deliver Claims and Loss Prevention workshops, and contribute articles to departmental publications.
Contract Review & Negotiation Support (Core)
*Customer & Maritime Contracts: Review of customer service contracts, against ONE’s standard positions. Map liabilities, identify risk gaps and propose redlines.
*Carriage Liability & P&I Alignment: Check that customer terms do not expand ONE’s liability beyond the applicable liability regime (e.g., package limitations, time bars and carrier defenses) and flag any term that could put ONE outside P&I cover so that it can be escalated before acceptance.
*Vendor & Non-Maritime Contracts: Review vendor, IT/Software as a Service (SaaS), services and procurement agreements, including vendor due diligence. Make sure that suitable clauses are adopted on data protection, cybersecurity, anti-bribery and corruption, fraud, sanctions and modern slavery.
*Contract Playbook Ownership: Help to build and maintain a contract review playbook and checklists that set out preferred fallback and ’must-have’ positions on key clauses (limitation of liability, indemnities, insurance, termination, data protection, governing law and dispute resolution). Ensure Playbook is reviewed periodically to keep pace with legal change and risk appetite.
*Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) & AI Tools: Support the rollout and day-to-day use of contract management (CLM) software (e.g. Xakia) and AI-enabled review tools (e.g., Harvey AI), including playbook configuration, workflow design and user adoption across EUA.
*Business Enablement: Deliver short training sessions for Sales, Procurement and Operations colleagues on key contract concepts (e.g., the difference between liability caps and indemnities)
Projects and Workflow Optimisation (Flex)
*Support governance and delivery of departmental projects, for example claim management software implementation, the digitisation of common bills of lading processes and the Contract Life Cycle Management (CLM) rollout. Projects can come from the Insurance, Contract, Loss Prevention or Compliance domain.
The Requirements
*Experience: 2–3 years’ experience in a legal, contracts or regulatory role, ideally including commercial contract review and negotiation.
*Expertise: Strong project and time management skills are essential. Experience of contract and tender management is highly advantageous.
*Education: A commitment to the legal discipline, shipping business and/or international trade shown through formal study and qualifications, is an advantage.
*Sector Knowledge: Experience in shipping, logistics or transportation is preferred though not essential. Knowledge of carriage of goods by sea, bills of lading or P&I/maritime insurance claims would be a distinct advantage.
*Technical Skills: Proficiency in Office 365 and Google Suite, with the ability to quickly master bespoke software. Experience with CLM platforms and AI-enabled legal tools (e.g., Xakia, Harvey AI) is desirable.
*Business Awareness and Commercial Judgement
*Customer Focus
*Communication and Negotiation
*Problem Solving and Attention to Detail
*Planning and Organisation
*Decision Making, including knowing when to escalate
*Innovation and Improvement
*Teamwork and Agility across pillars
*Independent and Self-Motivated

*Hybrid working arrangement.
*Membership of the Company’s Group Personal Pension Plan.
*Performance Related Pay a pay award and discretionary annual bonus linked directly to their performance in addition to annual review.
