Own the Finance Function
You’ll lead finance across multiple Group entities, taking responsibility for the day-to-day financial operation, reporting, controls and compliance.
Your responsibilities will include:
Lead the Finance Function
*Manage 13 four-weekly period-end closes, reconciliations and management accounts.
*Oversee budgets, forecasts, board reporting and financial analysis.
*Manage multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions and consolidated reporting.
*Oversee VAT, cash flow, banking, supplier payments and debt facilities.
*Manage multi-site payroll, pensions, PAYE and service charges.
*Ensure strong financial controls, compliance, year-end accounts and tax.
*Lead and develop the established finance team.
You’ll manage the financial complexities of a multi-company family business, providing clear, meaningful information to support decisions.
Drive Commercial Performance
You’ll work closely with operational teams and the family board, turning financial insight into practical improvements across the Group.
*Analyse P&Ls, labour costs, stock, margins and profitability.
*Identify efficiencies, cost savings and opportunities for growth.
*Oversee procurement, supplier negotiations, contracts and insurance.
*Manage rental income, leases, capital expenditure and project costs.
*Build financial models to assess new ventures, investments and risks.
*Support managers in making commercially sound decisions.
This is a hands-on, commercially focused role with genuine board influence, where you’ll help shape decisions rather than simply report the numbers.
Make Finance Smarter
Lead improvements across finance systems, including Xero, Moss, Mews, Lightspeed, Event Temple and Microsoft 365.
Use AI, automation and better system integration to streamline processes, improve reporting accuracy and reduce manual administration.
Your goal will be to create a leaner, more efficient finance function that delivers timely insights and supports business growth.
About You
Strong hospitality finance experience is a priority.
You’ll have proven finance leadership experience within hotels, multi-site restaurants or a comparable hospitality or leisure environment, ideally supporting a business with £10m–£20m turnover through growth.
What You’ll Bring:
• Hands-on financial management across period-end, management accounts, budgets and forecasts
• Strong VAT knowledge, ideally involving multiple entities and varied income streams
• Experience managing cash flow, banking, payments, payroll and financial controls
• Commercial business partnering within an operational hospitality environment
• Confidence analysing profitability, identifying opportunities and implementing improvements
• The ability to produce practical financial models and business cases at pace
• Experience leading a finance team and working with external accountants
• Strong systems capability and an interest in AI, automation and process improvement
• Excellent stakeholder management, with the confidence to challenge senior leaders constructively
• The ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and adapt to a fast-moving business
Qualifications & Additional Experience
A professional accounting qualification is desirable (CIMA preferred), although ACA, ACCA, part-qualified and qualified-by-experience candidates are welcome. Proven hospitality experience and results matter more than qualifications alone.
Experience with hospitality systems, insurance, banking, capital projects, contracts or finance system implementation is advantageous.
We’re looking for a collaborative, hands-on team player without ego, ideally within 30–40 minutes of Tewinbury. Welwyn North station offers North London connections, with onward transport required.
Why Tewinbury?
You’ll have a genuine seat at the leadership table of a growing family business, with the autonomy to improve how finance operates and the opportunity to influence commercial decisions across a diverse hospitality portfolio.
The package includes:
• Profit-based bonus of circa 15% of salary
• Private healthcare
• Subsidised Farm Fitness gym membership
• Hotel stays at Tewinbury and partner hotels as part of R&D
• Meals on duty
• Employee discounts across Tewinbury Group venues
• Free on-site parking
If you’re a hands-on hospitality finance leader who enjoys being close to the operation, bringing commercial ideas to life and making a tangible difference, we’d love to hear from you.
