In-House Solicitor | COLP & COFA
Swansea | £ Competitive Salary | Almost Fully Remote | Immediate Start
A Rare Opportunity for an Experienced Solicitor
Are you an experienced Solicitor with 5+ years’ PQE looking for a role that offers genuine flexibility, a manageable workload and the opportunity to take ownership of a firm’s legal and regulatory compliance?
We are working with a claims firm in Swansea seeking an experienced In-House Solicitor to act as COLP and COFA, taking responsibility for compliance and regulatory oversight while handling a very small number of complex claims.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who wants to step away from a traditional, high-volume fee-earning environment and move into a position focused on quality, compliance and complex legal work.
The Role
You will play a key role within the business, combining regulatory responsibility with the management of a limited number of complex claims.
Key responsibilities will include:
*Acting as the firm’s Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) and Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA). Experience not necessary but willing to learn.
*Taking responsibility for regulatory compliance, risk management and the implementation of appropriate policies and procedures. Willing to learn if no experience.
*Monitoring compliance with relevant SRA requirements and professional obligations.
*Overseeing financial compliance, controls and reporting requirements associated with the COFA position.
*Managing approximately one or two complex claims, providing strategic legal input and ensuring matters are handled effectively.
*Advising the business on legal, regulatory and risk-related issues.
*Maintaining appropriate compliance records and ensuring relevant processes are followed.
*Working closely with senior management to support the firm’s ongoing regulatory and operational requirements.
Importantly, this is not a high-volume caseload role. The emphasis is on regulatory oversight, sound judgement and the effective management of a very small number of complex matters.
About You
To be considered, you will ideally have:
*At least 5 years’ PQE as a qualified Solicitor.
*Experience in claims, litigation, personal injury or a related legal environment.
*Previous experience acting as a COLP and COFA, or the relevant regulatory and compliance experience to undertake both responsibilities.
*A strong understanding of SRA regulation, risk management and law firm compliance.
*The confidence to advise senior stakeholders and take ownership of compliance matters.
*The ability to manage complex legal issues independently and work with minimal supervision.
*Excellent organisational, communication and decision-making skills.
*The ability to start as soon as possible.
What’s on Offer?
*Almost fully remote working, with travel to the Swansea office approximately once a month.
*A genuinely manageable caseload, dealing with just one or two complex claims.
*A senior position with responsibility and autonomy.
*The opportunity to focus on compliance, risk and quality rather than volume-driven targets.
*Flexibility and a better work-life balance than many traditional fee-earning roles.
*An opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the running of an established claims business.
Interested?
If you’re an experienced Solicitor looking for a flexible, predominantly remote role where your expertise is valued and your caseload is kept to a minimum, we’d love to hear from you.
The firm is looking for someone who can start ASAP, so candidates available at short notice are particularly encouraged to apply.
All enquiries will be treated confidentially.
