Full job descriptionGroup Finance Manager | PE-backed Infrastructure | Crewe | £85,000 + bonus
Lead a team. Strengthen financial control. Help shape an acquisitive group.
A growing, private equity-backed infrastructure business is seeking a Group Finance Manager to lead its core finance operation and improve how finance works across the group.
Leading a team of 10, you’ll combine hands-on financial control with the opportunity to accelerate month end, develop your team and integrate acquisitions. This is a visible role with real scope to influence processes, systems and standards as the business scales.
The role
*Own month-end close, delivering accurate management accounts and a faster, well-controlled reporting cycle.
*Take responsibility for P&L and balance sheet integrity, including reconciliations, intercompany, fixed assets and CAPEX.
*Lead and develop the management accounting and finance support team, setting clear objectives and accountability.
*Oversee key ledger controls, cash collection, overdue debt and retentions, alongside subcontractor accounting, CIS and VAT/PAYE settlements.
*Work closely with Commercial and Operations to resolve issues and ensure financial reporting aligns with contract valuations and CVRs.
*Standardise processes across group entities, introduce automation and support acquisition integration alongside the M&A Finance Director.
*Support the year-end audit with robust schedules, reconciliations and supporting evidence.
About you
*ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, with strong experience in financial control or group finance.
*A proven people manager who enjoys developing teams and improving performance.
*Confident owning month end and balance sheet control within a multi-entity environment.
*Hands-on, commercially aware and able to work effectively with stakeholders across the business.
*Experienced in improving processes, strengthening controls and introducing automation.
Experience in infrastructure, construction or an acquisitive group would be advantageous, particularly exposure to CVR and CIS. Previous PE-backed experience is welcome but not essential.
An opportunity to take ownership, build a capable team and make a tangible impact on a growing finance function.
